Priest-In-Charge

ECOOS Welcomes The Very Rev. Ray Waldon, Priest-In-Charge

June 16, 2023

 ECOOS Family,

As your Senior Warden and on behalf of the Vestry I am excited to announce that The Very Rev. Dr. Raymond J. Waldon (“Father Ray”), Dean Emeritus SLC and the Retired Rector of St Paul’s, Waco, will be our part-time Priest-In-Charge as appointed by Bishop Richards and accepted unanimously by the Vestry effective June 12, 2023. He will serve until January 1, 2024, at which time the Vestry may renew his Letter of Agreement. As we have all seen during his time with us as our Assisting Priest over the past few weeks, Father Ray brings a wealth of experience, warmth, and “Louisiana love” that will be invaluable during our time of searching for our new rector.

Father Ray will have the authority of a Rector as our part-time Priest-In-Charge but work 15 hours a week. In addition to continuing to provide sacramental and liturgical leadership on Sundays, as well as lending his expertise and guidance as we carry out our parish responsibilities, he will also be available on mutually agreeable dates, for funerals and weddings.

Father Ray medically retired in 2020 and moved with his wife Lisa to Indian Land to be near his family.  He has said he is here for as short or as long as we need.  As Father Ray shared in a recent homily, remember to hold onto your forks…great things are ahead!

Blessings,

Ben Boyles, Senior Warden on behalf of your ECOOS Vestry
