Christian Formation

Christian Formation – Program highlights include classes offered for children, young adults, and adults. Children and Youth Classes meet in the fall and the spring and classes are held after the 9:30 am service. Adult programming is taught by our Priest in Charge and offered after the 9:30 am service as well. Special formation events for all ages are held during Advent and Lent.

Adult Forum – Adult Forum meets every Sunday morning at 10:45 in the Adult Classroom upstairs from the Parish Hall. We are a group of inquirers, a people on a journey of faith. We read together and discuss books in contemporary theology and religious studies. Our discussions, based on the readings, are open, robust, and honest. The group is religiously diverse and committed to reflection and the deep exploration of religious and faith issues. We are currently discussing Saving God from Religion: A Minister’s Search for Faith in a Skeptical Age by Robin R. Meyers. The class has been in existence for more than 20 years and welcomes new members.   “Perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”  – Rachel Naomi Remen

EfM (Education for Ministry) — Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. During the Service of Confirmation we ask God to “Renew in these your servants the covenant you made with them at Baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them.” EfM offers an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service. Visit the EfM website at http://efm.sewanee.edu/ to learn more. The EfM group at Our Saviour meets on Monday evenings.
